OUR KARATE SYSTEM:
At Lone Star Karate & Self-Defense, we study and teach the Zen Do
Kai system of martial arts, which is a blend of Shotokan, Ishin Ryu
and Tae Kwon Do.
We have recently added some basic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to our fighting
arts. Our system is developed to provide our students with real-world
application so that they are prepared when/if they are placed in
harm's way.
We have a close association with our sister school: Safety America
Karate School in Sugar Land, Texas.
KALI KILAT:
We want to welcome Guro Leo Quilaton to the Lone Star Family!
Guro Quilaton is a Filipino Stick Fighting Martial Artist, who brings
his method of teaching the Filipino Martial Art of Kali to our dojo.
Classes in Filipino Stick Fighting will be conducted for adult and
advanced belts only (with instructor approval).
Guro Quilaton will focus on the real-world application of his method
of Filipino Martial Arts, and will enhance the training of our
advanced students in these areas.
SAFETY:
We focus on Safety, and teach young men and women to protect
themselves in real-world situations!
We teach our students (particularly the young ones) about "Stranger
Danger."
We require safety gear of our students during all sparring sessions.
We focus on learning to fall and how to safely implement our
techniques.
HOW TO START:
Once you have decided that Karate is something you want to learn,
we take care of the paperwork at our facility (Do-Jo) in Richmond.
Initial registration includes a student uniform, sparring gear and a
school T-shirt. Monthly dues will vary depending upon the number
of students per family: check with us.
